Enjoy a morning of inspiration and togetherness as we honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the 2026 MLK Day Peace Walk and Community Breakfast at the Charles Mack Citizen Center. This year’s theme is Mission Possible II: Building Community. The morning will begin with a Peace Walk at 9 a.m., followed by a Community Breakfast and Program at 9:30 a.m. Attendees wishing to participate in the Peace Walk should gather in the Kelly Courtyard at the Charles Mack Citizen Center at 8:45 a.m. The Community Breakfast will feature a powerful program that pays tribute to Dr. King’s visionary leadership and enduring commitment to justice and equality.
This event offers an opportunity to reflect on the power of Dr. King’s dream and explore meaningful ways to help build a brighter, more united future.

Pastor Andreas Parsley-Williams

Pastor Dre Parsley-Williams is a former NAIA all-conference college football player and a ministry leader with over four decades of service. He has held key leadership roles within the Church of God in Christ across multiple jurisdictions and currently serves as Chaplain and Volunteer Services Coordinator at Cabarrus Youth Development Center in North Carolina. Pastor Dre is Senior Pastor of The Decision Community COGIC in Cornelius, NC, where he has served the Lake Norman area for six years. He is married to Tynsley, Executive Pastor of The Decision Church, and is the proud father of six.

Omar Tyree is a New York Times bestselling author, NAACP Image Award winner and professional journalist from Howard University, who has written fiction and nonfiction, hard news and op-eds, screenplays and stage plays, and many other forms of writing. He also an excellent lecturer who has been invited to speak at more than eighty American colleges and universities. His present and ongoing goals include the continuation of developing, writing and publishing great literary content, as well as adapting and producing exceptional films, music and educational events worldwide.
